Choosing Love Anyway

                    Choosing love anyway

It’s not news to anyone that we live in a world where great acts of humanity occur side by side with horrific acts of terrorism and destruction. So it’s not surprising that our feelings fluctuate between the highs of life’s goodness and beauty to the agony of loss, suffering and death.

Sometimes disastrous events happen so suddenly that we find ourselves reeling, wondering how we can ever go forward in our lives without being crippled by fear or worry. But once the initial shock is over, sometimes even in the moment of shock itself, we discover that we still can - and must - choose how to respond. The consequences of those choices go far beyond the parameters of our own lives. And thank goodness they do.

It seems almost too obvious to point out that the objective of a terrorist act is to terrorize those who are targeted. Including those who may not be directly affected but nevertheless watch heartbroken and helpless from a distance.

What affects one of our human family, affects all of us and calls out to us to take a stand for what we believe makes life worth living. By choosing to be the expression of the best qualities you can cultivate - love, compassion, happines
s, hope, courage, inspiration, creativity - you defeat terrorism in your own heart and inspire others to do the same.
