For those times when your thoughts make you feel stressed out and victimized, I've got just the thing for you. It's a technique my tribe has been using very effectively, so I want you to get the same results.
You’ve probably already heard or read the astonishing statistics on the number of thoughts that we think every day and how many of them are negative AND repetitive (it’s a LOT)! Just thinking about that number (never mind the consequences) can make us run to the nearest solution that might provide us with a healthier alternative. Almost everyone struggles with too many stressful thoughts, so the solution might seem to be to get rid of those thoughts or think only positive thoughts or focus very specifically on just certain thoughts (like a mantra or an affirmation) to the exclusion of everything else. But here’s a simple 3-step alternative : When your mind is filled with unhealthy thoughts, either about the past (memories) or the future (projections) or the present (how bad things are), use your divinely-inspired ability to choose your thoughts so you can focus on more enlightened ones. It’s not about resistance, which just makes the problem worse. It’s about employing the adage, “forgive and forget” to let go of the thoughts that cause pain. 1. Forgive (and bless) yourself and those pesky thoughts. In this way you're minimizing them and the power they have over you. 2. Unglue your attention to them; let them go (as if you were dropping a piece of fluff from your shirtsleeve). 3. Give yourself some love and understanding. Treat yourself as you would a child having a nightmare. It’s amazingly comforting - and liberating - to realize that beyond those debilitating thoughts is the place of peace and well being. That’s your natural default. And love is the fastest way to find it. Now, this might seem too easy, but it’s really just common sense. Just try it, and let me know what your experience is.
